About OmniTools
OmniTools is an independent Belgian platform born in 2024 from a simple observation: everyday online utilities — calculators, converters, generators — are too often cluttered with aggressive ads, pop-ups and artificial limits behind sign-up walls. We decided to build the opposite: a fast, clean, free and privacy-friendly site.
Our mission
To make useful digital utilities accessible to everyone, with professional quality, no sign-up, and no collection of sensitive data. Whether you are a student preparing an exam, a real-estate professional simulating a mortgage, a developer converting hex values, or a traveler checking exchange rates, you should be able to get a reliable result in under five seconds.
The team and editorial line
OmniTools is developed by a small Brussels-based team of two software engineers and a writer specialized in scientific and financial popularization. We outsource neither code nor content: every tool is designed, coded, tested and documented in-house. This organization lets us guarantee consistency between implemented formulas and published explanations, and to react quickly to user feedback.
Our editorial line rests on three commitments: explain before providing a number, cite our sources whenever possible (WHO for health indicators, NIST/ANSSI for security, National Bank of Belgium for mortgage references, BIPM for SI units), and accept that a tool may be imperfect rather than making it complex. We prefer publishing a solid calculator covering 90% of common cases and documenting its limits, rather than a sprawling monster that is hard to maintain.
How our tools are built
Every tool follows the same production chain. First step: we identify a reference formula in a recognized source (official publication, ISO standard, academic manual). Second step: we implement it in JavaScript with regression tests on about twenty known values — for instance, our temperature converter is verified against water boiling and freezing points in the three scales, and our mortgage calculator against amortizations published by Belgian banks.
Third step: we write educational content accompanying the tool. This content explains the formula, specifies units, lists cases where the tool is relevant and those where it isn't. Fourth step: cross-review by a team member not involved in development, then release. Finally, we monitor feedback and quickly correct any reported imprecision.
Calculations run entirely in your browser: no amount, password, text or file ever leaves your device. This has two advantages: protection of your data, and execution speed that does not depend on your connection quality — once the page is loaded, the tool works even without internet.
Our values
- Truly free — no hidden paid tier, no "freemium", no account required.
- Privacy respect — no personal data sold or shared, client-side calculations.
- Accuracy — verified formulas, reproducible results, sources cited in our guides.
- Accessibility — interface adapted to everyone, responsive, works on slow connections.
- Transparency — we publish the last-update date of every guide and we listen to feedback.
Our business model
OmniTools is free for the end user. Our revenue comes exclusively from non-intrusive advertising — no pop-ups, no blocking interstitials, no auto-playing video ads. We refuse advertisers that impose intrusive behavioral tracking. This simple model covers hosting, domain and time spent improving tools. If you use an ad blocker, we respect it: tool access remains identical.
Roadmap
We publish on average one new tool and one new guide each month. Upcoming projects include: an income tax calculator for Belgium, an improved time zone converter accounting for past daylight saving shifts, a revision plan generator for students, and a Belgian first-pillar pension simulator. Our community's suggestions largely guide this roadmap.
